There are plenty of ways to get your game back on track after a bad round
Let’s face it, golf can be a challenging game, where birdie holes can easily transform into double bogeys if things happen to go south with your game.
While golfers of all abilities can experience great rounds, every once in a while you’re sure to have one of those days when the bounces don’t to go your way and you’d rather not hold onto your scorecard. We surveyed a few SoCal teaching pros for some helpful hints on how to bounce back from a bad round…
Keep it simple
Golf is not a game of perfect. That means that you might shoot a high score once in a while, but that doesn’t always mean you have to complicate things by making changes to your swing. Simplify your game by looking at the basic fundamentals such as grip, alignment, stance and posture. These basic fixes should help you get back to shooting the scores you’re used to seeing. • • • Move forward There is no connection between a bad round and the next round you play. A difficult round is simply going to happen from time to time, whether you’re a high handicapper or a professional. There is no reason to dwell on it, so move forward and focus on the golf that you’re capable of playing.
Turn a negative into a positive
Reflect on your bad round, and if you have the chance to get in a practice session before your next time on the golf course, focus on the weak links in your game where you might have lost those extra strokes, such as around the greens. • • • Take a break After a round that you’d like to forget, sometimes it’s healthy to take your mind off the game. Take a few days off and spend time on other activities that you enjoy. This will allow your mind to recharge before hitting the course again. • • • One bad round won’t define you There’s always going to be another day to redeem yourself on the golf course. Your “A” game might not show up every round, so shake it off and learn from it. YOU MAY ALSO LIKE
